Post-Hospital Care
After a hospital stay, caring for an elderly loved one can be very challenging. Especial if they have special needs that you may note be trained on. Comfort Keepers offers tailor-made care plans that include a variety of hospital follow-up options, such as personal care, dressing changing, assisted living and home care. The period immediately following discharge from the hospital is the critical period of recovery. Rehabilitation after injury or illness can be a complicated process, especially for seniors.
In addition to physical challenges, depression and anxiety can occur, caused by social isolation and changes in normal routines. Nurses trained in infection control and elderly care can help the recovering stay home safely and reduce the risk of re-injury after hospitalization by following a discharge plan. It can also provide respite and a short period of relief for family members and other carers. During the current health crises, we know that more people could recover from hospitalizations at home than in hospital.
After a major operation or hospitalization, it is common for families to temporarily move and make the difficult decision to bring their loved ones. This compassionate change in routine can be stressful and overwhelming for some, causing anxiety, depression and anxiety.
